KOSOFE 2025: Moyo and his achievements in retrospect

Fate has smiled on The Executive Chairman of  Kosofe LG, Moyo Ogunlewe since he joined the ruling party in May 2019 after his misadventure at the opposition party, PDP for many years. He joined APC with the help of  the Late Senator Dhikirullahi Adebayo Oshinowo a.k.a Pepperito, who he contested the house of assembly election with in 2015. 



Taking a trip down memory lane, The APC Primaries that produced the chairman was a tough one, coming out unscathed among notable gladiators like Alhaji Musiliudeen Aigoro, Alhaji Fatai Gbadebo, Hon. Gbemisola Ketiku, Mr. Lanre Carew and so on, in which he had since mend fences with the aspirants, with Alhaji Fatai Gbadebo emerging as the Secretary to the Local Government[SLG].

He then emerged victorious in the LG Election in 2021 and became the youngest council chairman in kosofe at 37. His administration has been adjudged the best by his teeming supporters in the areas of quality health service delivery at the PHCs, Roads Construction and Rehabilitation, Welfarism, Human Capital Development, Sporting Activities, and so on.

However, His 3 years Admimistration has been marred with both constructuve and destructive criticisms about his style of leadership and quality of the road projects embarked upon. A Media hub once pointed out a substandard drainage construction in one of the rehabilitated roads done by the chairman but such claim has been fortwith refuted by the Chairman through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Oluwole Obisanya-Labia.



Kosofe will be going to poll again next year and the executive chairman has made his intentions known to the people that he will be re-contesting for the chairmanship position. As we speak now, The Chairman seems to be enjoying a good relationship with the 2 GAC Members in kosofe, in the persons of Otunba Bushura Adedeji ALEBIOSU a.k.a Baba Bush and Omooba Muyiwa SOSANYA. Moyo also has an added advantage of being a friend to the son of the president, seyi tinubu, who played a huge part in his emergence as party's flagbearer in 2021.



In conclusion, it seems that APC will be having a consensus candidate in kosofe as no one is showing interest in contesting with Moyo for the most coveted position at the grassroot level. it's either people are pleased with the administration and yielding the 2nd term ticket to him on a platter or those nursing the ambition are afraid to contest with him, owing to his achievements and popularity in the local government. Though the Immediate past councillor of Ward C Ifako/Gbagada, Hon. Ibrahim Bakare Olawale is showing interest at the juicy position but people didn't seems to take him serious, claiming that he's more of a PRETENDER than a CONTENDER, Owing to the fact that he defected to SDP and hasn't formally returned to APC {According to a critic, Oloye Oluwaseun Salami}.

Will Moyo Emerge as a party flagbeaber for APC Kosofe? Will he realize his 2nd-term ambition? Can his supposed achievements save the day for him when push comes to shove? I guess only time will tell such....

EFCC has begun monitoring Local Government Funds

  It is no longer a news that LGAs now have financial autonomy,owing to the supreme court verdict of 2024, affirming that LGAs should receive their monthly FAAC Allocations directly from the Country's treasury. According to the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Mimister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, The allocations of the LG funds will take effect by february. In lieu of this, The Anti-graft body of the federation, EFCC has announced that the has started monitoring the funds so that it won't be mismanaged or laundered abroad through the whims and caprices of corruption that is endemic in our political system. This is a welcome development by the anti-graft agency, beaming it's searchlight on the grassroots administration funds.
