APC Ward "B" Oworonsoki Councillorship Quagmire in Retrospect

 


As the council election draws near in Kosofe LGA, Many aspirants has indicated interest in vying for the councillorship seat of Orile-Oworo Ward B. They include; Hamzat Omotolani Aliu a.k.a Aguero, Sheriff Titilope Bello a.k.a Olope, Abayomi Ebenezer Elugbindin a.k.a Abayo, Muyiwa Olatiboye a.k.a Lastborn, Kehinde Omotehinse a.k.a PKO, Lanre Aborishade and Adetutu Umar. These are seasoned politicians that are well-known within the ward. 

The most experienced aspirant has to be Abayomi Elugbindin, who has contested for the councillorship seat on 2 occasions against the outgoing councillor, Kehinde Raheem Saliu. He has been touted as been the favourite person to emerge amongst the aspirants, owing to his mutual relationship with Baba Bush and Dayo Bush. However, Some Ward B Politicians and residents have made it known to MOSCHINOBLOG that they didn't fancy the chances of abayo becoming the next councillor, citing his demeanor of arrogancy and pride. Other school of thought are of the opinion that it shouldn't be based on "Abayo Lo Kan" slogan, that all aspirants should be given a level-playing field to test their popularity at the party primaries.

Apart from Abayo, We have Sheriff Titilope Bello a.k.a Olope, who has contested for the position before under PDP, who is also a strong contender owing to his affiliation with the Kosofe council chairman.

Muyiwa Olatiboye a.k.a Lastborn is the deposed youth leader of the ward and an affiliate of Hon. Musiliu Alade Aigoro, who is ready to test his political strength by vying for the seat.

If it's on "first come-first serve" basis, The first aspirant to publicly indicated interest in the position at this dispensation is Aliu Omotolani Hamzat a.k.a Aguero, who has long indicated interest in the position and he has done well for himself in bringing the social and sporting activities to the ward frequently.

Also, There is PKO, who is a political enthusiast and a youth movement leader, who has done well in the ward. Lanre Aborishade is also vibrant in the ward and in NYCN Kosofe, where he is the publicity secretary While the Iron Lady, Adetutu Umar is also keen on flexing her muscles with the men on the councillorship seat.

Who will emerge as the APC councillorship candidate amongst them? What position will the leaders take in the selection/election process? Will Loyalty and Eye service outshine Competency when push comes to shove? I guess only time shall tell.

EFCC has begun monitoring Local Government Funds

  It is no longer a news that LGAs now have financial autonomy,owing to the supreme court verdict of 2024, affirming that LGAs should receive their monthly FAAC Allocations directly from the Country's treasury. According to the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Mimister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, The allocations of the LG funds will take effect by february. In lieu of this, The Anti-graft body of the federation, EFCC has announced that the has started monitoring the funds so that it won't be mismanaged or laundered abroad through the whims and caprices of corruption that is endemic in our political system. This is a welcome development by the anti-graft agency, beaming it's searchlight on the grassroots administration funds.
