LAGOS GOES TO POLL IN 20 DAYS
It is no longer a news that lagos state will be conducting it's local governments election in all 57 LGAs/LCDAs on July 12, exactly 20 days from now. Political parties are expected to have submitted the list of their chairmanship and councillorship candidates for the forthcoming election. The ruling party, All Progressives Congress(APC) have submitted the names of their candidates to LASIEC while the opposition parties are no where to be found.
Since the return to democracy in 1999, APC has been holding sway in lagos state, dominating both state and local government elections. The ruling party is fully ready for the coming election, having conducted party primaries for the chairmanship and councillorship postions across the 57LGAs/LCDAs. Though, there is still skirmishes about the candidature of Samiat Abolanle Bada as the APC flagbearer for ikosi-isheri LCDA, as the coalition of opposition aspirants kicked against her nomination, in which the matter is expected to be laid to rest before July 6 LASIEC deadline for the substitution of names by the party.
Hitherto, APC is expected to have a favourable outcome at the poll, owing to the fact that it is an household name in lagos politics and the deliverables of the party at the state and federal level will transcend into victory for them.
This will be a litmus test after APC suffered an unthinkable loss at the 2023 Presidential Election, in which the party has learnt his lessons and has vowed that such nemesis won't befall the party again.
The umpire, LASIEC has reaffirmed it's readiness to conduct a free, fair and credible election. We hope to see a situation where election materials will reach the polling units on time, so that the electoral process can commenced as slated by the regulation.
MOSCHINOBLOG wishes APC great turnouts and positive results at the poll.
