LAGOS GOES TO POLL IN 20 DAYS

It is no longer a news that lagos state will be conducting it's local governments election in all 57 LGAs/LCDAs on July 12, exactly 20 days from now. Political parties are expected to have submitted the list of their chairmanship and councillorship candidates for the forthcoming election. The ruling party, All Progressives Congress(APC) have submitted the names of their candidates to LASIEC while the opposition parties are no where to be found. Since the return to democracy in 1999, APC has been holding sway in lagos state, dominating both state and local government elections. The ruling party is fully ready for the coming election, having conducted party primaries for the chairmanship and councillorship postions across the 57LGAs/LCDAs. Though, there is still skirmishes about the candidature of Samiat Abolanle Bada as the APC flagbearer for ikosi-isheri LCDA, as the coalition of opposition aspirants kicked against her nomination, in which the matter is expected to be laid to rest ...

Since inception, Justice Forum group, with the mantra "Ododo lo ma leke" has been existing in Lagos State, on which premise, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rode to become the Governor of Lagos State in 1999 and The Mandate Movement, which was formerly called BATCO, under the mantra "We lead others follow" came into prominence during the re-election bid of Bola Tinubu in 2003. APC Ward "B" Oworonsoki Councillorship Quagmire in Retrospect

  As the council election draws near in Kosofe LGA, Many aspirants has indicated interest in vying for the councillorship seat of Orile-Oworo Ward B. They include; Hamzat Omotolani Aliu a.k.a Aguero, Sheriff Titilope Bello a.k.a Olope, Abayomi Ebenezer Elugbindin a.k.a Abayo, Muyiwa Olatiboye a.k.a Lastborn, Kehinde Omotehinse a.k.a PKO, Lanre Aborishade and Adetutu Umar. These are seasoned politicians that are well-known within the ward.  The most experienced aspirant has to be Abayomi Elugbindin, who has contested for the councillorship seat on 2 occasions against the outgoing councillor, Kehinde Raheem Saliu. EFCC has begun monitoring Local Government Funds

  It is no longer a news that LGAs now have financial autonomy,owing to the supreme court verdict of 2024, affirming that LGAs should receive their monthly FAAC Allocations directly from the Country's treasury. According to the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Mimister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, The allocations of the LG funds will take effect by february. In lieu of this, The Anti-graft body of the federation, EFCC has announced that the has started monitoring the funds so that it won't be mismanaged or laundered abroad through the whims and caprices of corruption that is endemic in our political system. This is a welcome development by the anti-graft agency, beaming it's searchlight on the grassroots administration funds. Though the Governors weren't happy that the LGAs which had been rendered moribound through paucity of funds will now have financial autonomy to fend for it's needs and execute some grassroot development projects in their domains, it'...
